A Memorial Day

Memorial Day is always a special time to visit the cemeteries and graves of our ancestors. We are fortunate to have several relatives buried here in the South Jordan Cemetery. One of which is my brother, who was stillborn and is our son's namesake. The grandparents that I grew up next door to (my mom's parents) are buried next to him, as well as my aunt and uncle and my great grandparents. There are other extended family there too. It's always fun to share memories and visit with extended family who happen to be there at the same time. My husband's grandparents, whose farm became the subdivision we now live in, are also buried in that cemetery.

I went with my parents to the Provo cemetery (about 45 minutes south) where my grandfather and 2 sets of great grandparents and a set of great great grandparents have been laid to rest. We also visited the West Jordan cemetery where others are. My husband went with his parents to the Salt Lake Cemetery to the graves of his great grandparents and they met his mother's cousin there. He said it was the first time he'd ever met anyone from that line of his family.

Honoring our ancestors is of great importance to us. My husband and I both have such great relationships with our families and memories of times spent with our grandparents and extended families. We believe that these relationships will extend beyond this life, and that those we love who have passed beyond this life are watching over us and cheering us on. We believe that where they are is amazingly beautiful and peaceful and full of love and that when someone we love passes on, a wonderful reunion takes place there.
